The prototype is developed by sustainable energy firm, GENeco and a conventional 2 liter VW Beetle was converted to run on conventional fuel as well as compressed methane gas, and the best part is it performs like conventional car. With its top speed at 114mph, Bio-Bug runs initially on petrol, however; when its engine reaches to a desired temperature, it automatically switches to methane. If the car runs out of methane, it automatically reverts to petrol. Bio-Bug runs 5.3 miles per cubic meter of bio gas, and with one sewage work could power 95,400,000 miles per year saving 19,000 tones of CO2.
