High School Students Experience Pepper Spray To The Face

A group of students at Barberton High School, Ohio were lined up against a wall and shot with pepper spray.

High School Students Experience Pepper Spray To The Face

The shot of pepper spray was directed straight into their faces.

Two officers from the Barbeton Ohio police force administered the shots to the student's faces.

If you have never experienced the effects of pepper spray to the face then you have escaped some of the most torturous effects to the body a person can experience.

Let's look at some of the effects:

Once hit by the pepper spray a strong inflammatory response coupled with a burning sensation occurs.

That effect is only a small effect from the spray.

Once you receive a direct shot to the face you also experience an inability to open your eyes or control your breathing.

Once this occurs it cannot be stopped and will continue between 30 minutes to an hour.

Water or milk will not stop the effects but will help reduce the duration.

Unfortunately, with the chemical remaining in the pores of the skin, flare-ups can repeat for at least 24 hours.

The amazing thing is these students volunteered to get pepper sprayed.

It was all a part of a class project by students (who signed waivers) studying criminal science technology at Barberton High

School.

**THE WAIVER**
Dear Parent(s) or Guardian,
On Friday, May 12, 2017, as part of our defensive tactics training that we have covered this year, I will introduce the use and effects of law enforcement OC “Pepper Spray" to the students. Each student will have the option to be swabbed or receive a quick “burst" to the facial area with this chemical agent. It will cause irritation and a burning sensation to the eyes and nasal area for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
This is a controlled and safe experience for the students and is completely voluntary.
Please sign your option below and return the form by Monday, May 8, 2017.
Thank you,
Chief Milford

In the following video, the volunteer students can be heard screaming after the pepper spray is shot into their faces.

They can be seen doubling over and writhing in pain as the chemicals take effect.

It's probably safe to say they will not be volunteering for anything else in the near future.
