January 19, 2015, the shooting of the movie started in Liverpool and also in Philadelphia, Rocky's home. The movie “Creed” was released in the United States on November 25, 2015.
Fans of Rocky welcomed CREED with well received reviews that left them with hopeful anticipation for a CREED 2 to be in the works.
In 1998, Adonis "Donnie" Johnson, the son that came out of an extramarital love affair with former heavyweight champion “Apollo Creed” is serving time in a youth facility in Los Angeles when “Mary Anne” Creed's wife, paid him a visit and offered to take him in.

After seventeen years, Donnie quit his job at a securities firm in order to pursue his dream of becoming a professional boxer. The wife of Creed strongly opposed this; it made her remember how her husband was killed in the ring 30 years ago when he was up against Ivan Drago. When he tried to get a slot at Los Angeles' elite Delphi Boxing Academy, he was turned down. Fearlessly, Donnie sets off to Philadelphia in hopes of getting in contact with his father's old friend and rival, Rocky Balboa.

Rocky was tracked down by Donnie at Rocky's Italian restaurant, “Adrian”, it was named in honor of his late wife, and Donnie asks Rocky to become his personal trainer. Rocky is unwilling to go back into boxing, despite having suffered a brain trauma during his career as a fighter, he has already made a one-off comeback at a very advanced age. However, he finally agrees to do it. He trains at the Front Street Gym, with so many of Rocky's longtime friends as cornermen, and later fell in love with Bianca, who is an upcoming songwriter and singer.

Donnie, now referred to as "Hollywood Donnie," after he defeats a local fighter, and word gets out that he is the illegitimate son of Apollo Creed. Rocky gets a call from the supervisors of world light heavyweight champion "Pretty" Ricky Conlan, who is about to be sent into retirement by a looming prison term. He made an offer to make Donnie his last challenger—as long as he will change his name to Adonis "Hollywood Donnie" Creed. At first, Donnie refused, trying to create his legacy. But he later agreed.
While Donnie was assisted by Rocky to train, he found out that he was sick with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He did not want to undergo chemotherapy because he believed it would not save him, since it couldn’t save Adrian at the time she had ovarian cancer. Also because his brother-in-law Paulie Pennino—Adrian's brother and his best friend had died in addition to Adrian, Apollo and his old trainer “Mickey Goldmill” forced him to face his own fear.

The fight between Donnie and Conlan took place in the hometown of Conlan in Liverpool. A lot of parallels can be seen between Apollo and Rocky's first fight 40 years back. Prior to proceeding into the ring, Mary Anne gave Donnie a present, a new American flag trunk that is like the one's Apollo and Rocky wore. To the utmost amazement of almost everybody, Donnie went the extra mile when he gave Conlan all he could handle. He “Conlan” won on a split decision, but Donnie received Conlan’s respect and that of the crowd. Jim Lampley, who was calling the fight for HBO, said that Conlan won the fight. However, Creed won the night." Conlan told Donnie he was the light heavyweight division’s future.

As far as we can see CREED won the night also, and there are rumors circulating about a CREED 2 and possibly a CREED 3. Word is Stallone and Jordan are already involved in some preliminary work.

One last thought, that Rocky theme music never gets old, don’t you agree.
