UPS FIRES 250 Employees And Threatens City If They Try To Do Something About It

UPS Is Not Playing Around, As It Fires 250 Truck Drivers And Threatens City If They Try To Do Something About It!!

UPS IN GANGSTA MODE

The Atlanta-based company is terminating 250 of its unionized drivers (some with many years of service) from its Maspeth facility, because they walked off the job for 90 minutes Feb. 26 to protest the dismissal of a long-time employee, UPS told the Daily News.

It all started when the dismissal of longtime employee and union activist Jairo Reyes, was fired over an hours dispute.

After Jairo Reyes had gotten fired, the truckers and members of local 804 decided to show a force of solidarity and staged a 90 minute walk out, under the impression that strength in numbers would show management how they felt.

There is a saying that, there is safety in numbers, but that did not apply in this situation, as the company fired 20 employees after they finished the workday, and issued 230..Two Hundred And Thirty!!! termination letters to the employees that were left.

Those termination letters stated they would be off the payroll (FIRED) after new employees have had sufficient training to replace them.

This action of bankrupting 250 families did not sit well with the city of Queens, and the city council was outraged.

New York City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer told The Queens Courier. "That’s outrageous. These are good, hardworking employees who have a contract for UPS. To try and break this contract, break this union, is something that is unacceptable and we can’t tolerate."

Local Politicians threatened UPS with cancelling city contracts that give UPS millions of dollars in breaks on parking fines.

The mass firing has enraged Tim Sylvester, head of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 804, especially since the company gets some lucrative perks from the city.

United Parcel Service has a contract worth $43 million to provide delivery services to city and state agencies, according to documentation from city officials.

It’s also enrolled in a Department of Finance program that saves it millions annually on fines and fees for parking tickets.

When UPS heard this, they threatened the Politicians with," If you alter any contracts we will fire even more of the workers!!!"

This would involve even the innocent employees that had nothing to do with the walkout, being penalized and thrown into a jobless world.

Led by NYC Public Advocate Letitia James, more than a dozen State and City leaders rallied on the steps of City Hall this morning with Local 804 members to call on UPS to immediately rescind the terminations of the 250 Teamster drivers in Queens.

“We're asking UPS to do right by the workers who have built this company and to do right by the customers who depend on these workers everyday,” said Local 804 President Tim Sylvester. “UPS should take back the terminations and resolve this through dialogue and negotiations—not intimidation tactics.

The whole situation has escalated quickly, with over a 100000 thousand signatures petitioned.

Will UPS Maintain It's GANGSTA MENTALITY Or Sit At A Table For A More Decent Resolution???????????

250 Employees have seen, WHAT BROWN CAN DO TO YOU" maybe there's a chance they can see the real merits of the slogan, "WHAT BROWN CAN DO FOR YOU".
