Bingo India has created a tablet that cost just $35, Yes just $35, which is a touch screen computing device. This device is developed by a research team at India's Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science.
India’s Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal while presenting the world's cheapest tablet said:
We have reached a (developmental) stage that today, the motherboard, its chip, the processing, connectivity, all of them cumulatively cost around $35, including memory, display, everything. Also said that they have started seeking global companies for mass production of this device.
This $35 computing device has fully customizable hardware according to users' needs. It features Internet browsing, PDF support & video conferencing.
Further more Kapil Sibal said at his press conf:
Linux based computing device was expected to be introduced to higher education institutions from 2011 but the aim was to drop the price further to $20 and ultimately to $10.
