Scientists create Cancer-detecting $200 gizmo that have 96% accuracy

A team of scientists from Harvard University with collaboration of MIT have managed to develop a gizmo to detect cancer, which it can diagnose in just one hour, and the most amazing part is its price is just $200.

This portable hand-held scanner "uses antibodies and magnetic particles to seek out and flag cancer in cells, which are extracted with a needle, rather than large amounts of surgically removed tissue." Later the diagnostic results are analyzed using a smartphone app, and within a hour, it will show you if that tumorous tissue is cancer or not.

The currently being used method of detecting cancer, through biopsy, in hospital can only be 84% accurate, but this new gizmo will guarantee much better results (as tested at 96%).

The happy news is that, scientist are working hard to launch this product for general public. Because of low price and high quality it would also be helping for poorest countries and doctors who can't afford costly equipments. [physorg] via [bloomberg]
