Polo on Two Wheels

In Los Angeles, bicycle polo is rapidly growing game , which, according to the players, "chasing the ball like a race to destruction." The new game involving two teams of three cyclists who are using golf clubs to polo, made from ski poles and plastic pipes are driven by the field size of a tennis ball. Most bicycle wheels closed bright plastic caps which prevent the ingress of clubs or the ball in the spokes. Course of the game ranges from finesse to complete chaos in which cyclists winds and avoid each other, occasionally colliding. During the game is not difficult to get injured, so players use helmets, knee pads, goggles and gloves for protection.

In late October, photographer of "Los Angeles Times" Jay Clendenin went to one of the sites, which is played in the cycling position to capture this new sport. [8 Shots]
